Flexpartner - OpenADR

Welcome to the Flexpartner Energy AS (FlexPE) OpenADR 3.0 API documentation page. This reference guide outlines the integration specifications for Virtual End Nodes (VENs) connecting to our Virtual Top Node (VTN) within the Norwegian energy grid (country: NO).

Flexpartner Energy operates two core OpenADR programs designed to manage grid constraints, dispatch localized assets, and stream real-time telemetry.

PROGRAM - EVENT - LOAD CONTROL
Dynamic Interconnection Constraints and Forced Dispatch Program

Maximize asset monetization and protect local network infrastructure with active load management.

This LOAD_CONTROL program allows FlexPE to broadcast real-time operational boundaries and targeted dispatch instructions to your assets. It gives your VEN the necessary intelligence to throttle consumption or force asset export to relieve immediate grid pressures or capitalize on flexible capacity windows.

Program Identity

  • Program Name: Capacity limit or dispatch

  • Program ID: 7dcf6777-54a4-439f-a80f-8c0baf552bdf

  • Program Type: LOAD_CONTROL

  • Binding Events: false (Note: Event parameters are subject to dynamic real-time tuning; your VEN should actively monitor the endpoint for modifications.)

Supported Payload Descriptors

Events issued under this program utilize the following EVENT_PAYLOAD_DESCRIPTOR schemas:

  • IMPORT_CAPACITY_LIMIT

    • Units: KW (Real-time power ceiling) / KWH (Energy accumulation cap)

    • Purpose: Restricts the maximum power or energy your site can pull from the grid during peak constraint periods.

  • EXPORT_CAPACITY_LIMIT

    • Units: KW (Real-time injection ceiling) / KWH (Energy export cap)

    • Purpose: Sets limits on the amount of power your on-site generation or battery storage can push back into the grid.

  • DISPATCH_SETPOINT

    • Units: KW (Target power level) / KWH (Target energy volume)

    • Purpose: Direct commands to ramp up or down to an exact operational setpoint (e.g., triggering forced battery dispatch or EV smart-charging throttles).

PROGRAM - REPORT - OBSERVATIONS
Dynamic Site Consumption and Production Management

High-fidelity telemetry tracking for active baseline modeling and grid visibility.

This TELEMETRY_TRACKING program creates a continuous data loop between your VEN and the FlexPE VTN. By pairing consumption, generation, and baseline values, this program underpins financial settlements, virtual power plant (VPP) forecasting, and performance verification.

Program Identity

  • Program Name: Observations Consumption and production and baseline

  • Program ID: 23beeec4-03f1-48bd-9377-412686c13692

  • Program Type: TELEMETRY_TRACKING

  • Binding Events: true (Note: Reporting triggers and structural event targets are fixed once published.)

Supported Payload Descriptors

This program relies on a hybrid setup of EVENT_PAYLOAD_DESCRIPTOR to trigger actions and REPORT_PAYLOAD_DESCRIPTOR to return dataset measurements:

  • START_REPORT (Event Descriptor)

    • Units: BOOL

    • Purpose: An administrative signal issued by the VTN to instruct your VEN to start streaming report data payloads.

  • USAGE (Report Descriptor)

    • Units: KWH

    • Purpose: Real-time metered energy consumption data from the site.

  • PRODUCTION (Report Descriptor)

    • Units: KWH

    • Purpose: Real-time metered energy generation data from local co-generation, solar arrays, or energy storage systems.

  • BASELINE (Report Descriptor)

    • Units: KWH

    • Purpose: Expected usage profile measurements used to calculate actual flex-capacity delivery against business-as-usual operations.
